Kombucha

Have you heard of Kombucha, the beverage the ancient Chinese called the “Immortal Health Elixir?” It’s been around for more than 2,000 years and is known for it's ability in preventing and fighting cancer, arthritis, and other degenerative diseases.
It's made from sweetened tea that’s been fermented by a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast. It's often referred to as a mushroom, but it's not. Kombucha tea is made by adding the colony to sugar and black or green tea and allowing the mix to ferment. The resulting liquid contains vinegar, B vitamins and a number of other chemical compounds. Kombucha tea is commonly prepared by taking a starter sample from an existing culture and growing a new colony in a fresh jar. Health benefits attributed to Kombucha tea include stimulating the immune system, preventing cancer, and improving digestion and liver function. Alot of people choose to make their own, which requires an extremely sterile environment and little room for error. Because I'm not that meticulous, I pick up a few bottles from whole foods every week! It's a great addition in any natural health care regime. As with any dietary supplement, it's critical to do your homework before considering and make sure it's right for you!
