They sleep, We grind

I can't tell you how much I have heard or read this term as of late. In theory I guess it sounds great. You're telling me that you and your folks are always on your grind. Morning, noon and night. You a HUSTLER! So while I'm snuggled in my bed at 11pm, you're still working on your riches. The problem here is that developing a habit of staying up til the wee hours of the morning is having a detrimental effect on your health. It clearly goes against the laws of nature. This ridiculousness only began within the last 100 years as electricity, light bulbs and television bombarded our lives. Back in the old days people turned in soon after sunset and were up at the crack of dawn. Look at nature as it still follows the circadian rhythm. Flowers close at night and open in the morning as all other non nocturnal creatures. So why are we in a club, watching television or on the computer at 3am? The problem here is that melatonin, naturally replenishes in your body around the hours of 9pm and 2am and is activated by low light and rest. It is undetectably low during the day. Why is this important? Because melatonin is a ubiquitous hormone long thought to be produced only in the brain’s pineal gland, and to be chiefly responsible for day-night cycling and sleep patterns. We now understand that melatonin is also produced in many different organs in the body and influences virtually every living cell. Meaning that if you are rarely asleep between the hours where it produces, you are slowly destroying your health. We already know that lack of sleep is a major contributor to cancer, heart disease, obesity, diabetes and many more diseases. What many don't know is that it's not just the lack of sleep, but the time in which you actually sleep. So I'll sleep, while they grind because after all, what's wealth without health.

xoxo
